Week 2 - Birthday Reflections

I'm the person who tends to make big deals out of small things -- for good or bad. So....BIRTHDAYS are kind of a big deal in my book. I love celebrating that day with someone! And yes, because it's a testimony of a what the Lord has done over the past year, a day to reflect on His blessings; but also because it's JUST FUN!

Week 1 - Mission Possible

So I did it....I went to Mission Impossible 4...

(I know - groans and moans gulor but I actually liked it -- please hold you hissing or from throwing eggs!) 

In Year in Review and Preview

 "He will keep in perfect peace those whose mind are steadfast, for they trust in Him. Trust in the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock Eternal" - Isaiah 26:4

As 2011 came to a close, I spent the last month or so really just trying to catch up. It was a year of filled pursuit - being pursued by God as well as pursuing God like never before. Come November, I was weary - emotionally, physically, and relationally.

I needed to go home. 

Breaking Heart

Today as I round out a day at the office I'm weary. Not because I'm getting worked to the bone, because the coffee machine was broke, or because I was out too late last night to get proper sleep. Rather, I was wearied by the stories and pictures and videos I've seen about hurt and hurting children in our country.

If you're like me you have a pictures of adorably ornery little boys in your life, like me and my nephews affectionately know as "Runt" and "Squirt" by my brother-in-law!

Being here in DC, I miss them like CrAzY?!?! 

Sisters at Heart

A little under 5 months ago...

             ...when I took that GIANT FAITH STEP... 

                                    ...and flew to DC with 2 suitcases....

...all I knew was that I had a 3 month internship paying $8/hr, a futon in my friends laundry room for a 1-2 (thankfully they graciously let me stay 3!!), a church I knew was changing DC and the world for Christ, and a couple spattering of acquaintances and friends.

A Morning Prayer

          now the ears of my ears awake...

                       ...and now the eyes of my eyes are opened
